I purchased a pair of AirPods at the Regent Street flagship store in the morning and returned in the evening simply wanting to get them engraved. I was informed that Apple cannot engrave items in person, meaning I had to return the brand new, unopened device and re-order it online instead. A smooth return should have been effortless, as is standard with almost all other major retailers in the UK. Instead, a technical glitch on Apple's system falsely claimed the device was connected to another account. Rather than taking ownership, the initial staff member unprofessionally told me I had to "sort this out on my own." While a manager, Nicola, eventually stepped in to explain the glitch properly, the system still failed to process the transaction, and I cooperated by agreeing to return another day. The worst part of the experience occurred as my friend and I were leaving. A male employee standing at the top of the stairs began openly gossiping about me to a security colleague, loudly questioning why I was "making a scene" and giving me a highly hostile attitude. The guy that served us had no interests in giving us the basic customer service. This was around 7:00/7:30pm Because of him Apple lost out on £700. I won’t be purchasing my iPads from there.
